D. Robert "Bob" Deckard, 92, passed away at 10:15 pm, Saturday, June 21, at the New Willow Manor. Bob was born in Vincennes on June 11, 1922, the second child of Sylvan and Nell (Rodman) Deckard. His parents preceded him, as well as his wife, Alberta J. Eastin, whom he married on June 28, 1941, and who passed away on Feb. 22, 2003; two sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Deckard. A lifelong farmer, Bob was a graduate of Decker Chapel High School (Class of 1939), and attended Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1940 - 1945, and was stationed in England during WWII. His memberships included the Wheatland United Methodist Church, Patoka Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, and the Evansville Scottish Rite. Surviving is his son, Larry R. Deckard of Wheatland, IN; his daughter, Sandra A. Baker, and her husband, Sam, of Vincennes; five grandsons, Ryan Baker and his wife Stacy of Terre Haute, IN, Rhett Baker and his wife Delany of Vincennes, Brady Deckard and his wife Connie of Vincennes, Aaron Deckard and his wife Amie of Wheatland, IN, and Colby Deckard of Wheatland; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, on Wednesday, at 2:00, with visitation from 12:00 - 2:00, preceding the funeral. Burial will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
