Dorothy M. (Pershing) Allison, 96, of Washington, passed away at 11:00 am Saturday, December 21, 2019 at The Villages of Oakridge in Washington.She was born October 31, 1923 to John Carl and Mabel (Morris) Pershing in Daviess County, Indiana. She married William A. Allison on October 21, 1945 who preceded her in death on December 21, 1988.Dorothy was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where she taught the Nursery Class for several years. She grew up a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Washington and had worked at Reliance, Graham Farms, and Washington Community Schools in addition to helping her husband farm in Veale Township. A 1941 graduate of Washington High School, she also attended Purdue University. Dorothy belonged to the United Methodist Women, the Ophelia Homemakers Club, and served as a 4-H leader for many years.Surviving are her four daughters, Mary Lou Hanson and her husband Harry, Phyllis Burch and her husband Dan, and Diane Dillon all of Washington and Janet Arthur and her husband Roger of Greenwood, her six grandchildren, Kristen (Burch) Kelley, Tracy Burch, Alyson (Burch) Reuter, Heather (Hanson) Allender, Mark Arthur, and Hal Hanson; her 12 great grandchildren, Anna Kelley, Cannon Kelley, Hunter Hanson, Will Kelley, Addy Reuter, Grayson Allender, Max Reuter, Maya Arthur, Hallie Hanson, Cooper Allender, Owen Allender, and Dorothy Arthur; her sisters, June Harshberger of Kingwood, WV and Helen Wiesler of Bloomington, IN; brothers Donald Pershing of Frankfort, IN Dr. Roscoe Pershing of Champaign, IL and Stephen Pershing of Huntingburg; sister-in-law Evelyn Pershing of Lafayette; and a brother-in-law, Larry Pearson of Anderson.She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Tom Dillon; two infant grandchildren; sisters Ruth Sauer and Mary Ann Pearson; brothers Everett Pershing and Wilbur Pershing; brothers-in-law Rev. Robert Harshberger and Don Wiesler.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, December 27, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Phil Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
