Dorothy Lay

Dorothy A. Lay, 90, of 919 N. 9th, Vincennes, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Sunday August 17, 2014 at her residence.She was born April 20, 1924 in Knox County to Porter Levi and Lula (Meyers) Noble.Dorothy had worked at Center Hardware, Joann's Fabrics, and retired from Wal-Mart. She attended the Followers of Christ Baptist Church in Carlisle and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Surviving is her sister, Georgia Noble of Vincennes; her grandsons, Robert and Thomas Lay; and several great grandchildren. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; her husband, Francis J. Lay; her son, James Allen Lay; and brothers and sisters, Grace Monts, Clara Noble, Mary Lou Stafford, Leroy Noble, and William Porter Noble.Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 20, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Glen Archer and Rev. Mark Nielson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Followers of Christ Baptist Church or the Monroe City First Church of God.
