Douglas Scott Chastain, 70, son of Donald and Jean (Campbell) Chastain, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2023. Scott was born on August 14, 1953. He graduated from West Washington High School in 1971. He then continued his education at Lincoln Christian College and became a youth leader and traveled to tell the gospel through song at different churches. He was currently attending Bethany Christian Church.
Scott enjoyed farming, construction, hunting, and most importantly, his family. He was the manager at Big Blue in Vincennes, Indiana for many years. His most current employer was Bear Run where he served as a coal miner. Scott had a smile that lit up the room and he will be dearly missed by so many.
Surviving Scott is his mother, Jean Chastain of Oswego, Il; daughter, Courtney Bauer (Erich) of Bruceville, In; son, Austin Chastain of Vincennes, In; brother, Mark Chastain (Diane) of Oswego, Il; grandchildren, Brayden Bauer, Liam Bauer, and Aiden Bauer; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Scott in death is his father, Donald Chastain.
Visitation for Scott will be held Sunday, September, 17, 2023 from 3:00 pm- 6:00 pm at Goodwin- Sievers Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 at Mt. Tabor Christian Church 7380 W. Mt. Tabor Road, Salem, Indiana 47167 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. A graveside service will follow immediately after at the Mt. Tabor Christian Cemetery. Tom Rosenbaum will be officiating the graveside service. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Douglas Scott Chastain.
