He was born in Nashville, IN, on March 2, 1936, to Rev. William and Pearl Ellis. He attended University of Evansville and on to Indiana University School of Dentistry where he graduated with his DDS. He opened his dental practice in Vincennes, IN, in 1960 where he practiced for more than 55 years. He was a devoted husband to his bride, Carolyn (Castleman) Ellis. They were married on June 7, 1959. He served on several committees and boards, local and beyond. He was a delegate to the United Methodist Conference and sponsored the legislation that created the United Methodist Volunteer in Missions teams. They were both active in the International Orphan Project. They were host families to International students through Vincennes University. He enjoyed outdoor activities, spending time on or around water, loved animals, painting with water colors, and taking in all of the IU basketball he could watch. He cherished time with friends and family and with a twinkle in his eye when he smiled, he told you how much he cared about you.
