Dwight P. Winkler, 90, of rural Vincennes, died at 6:53 a.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 27, 1921, in Knox County, Indiana, to Allen and Mona (Johnson) Winkler. He was a graduate of Oaktown High School and Ball State University. He married Helen D. Davis on April 11, 1942, and she survives. He is survived by one son, Dean Winkler and his wife, Charlotte of Loogootee, and one daughter, Colette VanDusen and her husband, Bill of Chatham, Illinois. A daughter, Sharlet, is deceased. There are four grandchildren; Amber Winkler of Jasper; Jeffrey Winkler of Oakland, California; Jennifer Eastwood of Auburn Hills, Michigan and Dori Lennen of Highland, Illinois. There are four great- grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Jane Lambur of Keller, Texas, and one brother, Robert L. Winkler and his wife JoAnn of Emison, Indiana. Dwight was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Navy and was the retired owner and operator of Vincennes Doctors' Laboratory in Vincennes for many years and was also involved in the farming industry and was a member of the Upper Indiana Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will take place Thursday at 10:30 a.m. December 22, 2011, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Dr. George Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Lord's Warehouse.
