Edith Mae Dellinger FarrisEdith Mae Dellinger Farris, 78, Vincennes, went very peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday November 29, 2011, with her family at her bedside. She was affectionately known as "Mother" to all that knew her.Mother was born July 8, 1933, the daughter of Chester and Helen (Ice) Dellinger. She was a graduate of Monroe City High School and Oakland City College. Upon graduation from college, she was 5th grade teacher for 6 years in the Monroe City and Vincennes school systems. She spent most of her life defining the title "Mother" and serving others. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved with the United Methodist Women at the local and district levels and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also an active member of the Town and Country Homemakers club and enjoyed participating in many homemakers events across the state. She also enjoyed donating her time to the local food pantry, babysitting children of the community, being a special "Aunt Edith" to her many nieces and nephews, quilting, gardening and, above all, spending time with her 10 grandchildren.Mother married Joseph W. Farris on February 6, 1960 and they spent 52 beautiful and wonderful years together farming and raising children and grandchildren. Mother is also survived by her five children - James and his wife Karen of Vincennes, Julia Isom of Covington, Rebecca Jo McDowell and her husband Shawn of Vincennes, Edward of Huntington and Jennifer Sue Harker and her husband Troy of Mooresville. Mother is also survived by her grandchildren: Kyle, Jacob and Holly Farris; Haley and Caroline Isom; Delaney, Alison and Graydon McDowell; and Morgan and Courtney Harker. Mother is also survived by her brother Eldon Dellinger; brother Dale Dellinger and his wife Letha Jane; and sister Mary Pahmeier of Marion.Mother was preceded in death by her parents, a brother in law and a son in law. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday at Community United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 pm on Thursday at the church.Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the CUMC United Methodist Women or the Knox County Food Pantry.
