Ella Mayfield

Ella Arlenna Mayfield, 97, of Indianapolis, passed away at 1:33 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born July 24, 1913, in Vincennes, the daughter of Grover Otis and Nina Catherine (Shouse) Myers.Ella had been a teacher at Washington Elementary School in Vincennes, Bicknell Township School, Dexter Elementary School in Evansville and White River Elementary School in Indianapolis. She was the oldest living member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher's Sorority and had been a member for 50 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Brooke) Beall of Bracey, VA; sons, Gayle W. "Bill" (Barbara) Mayfield of Indianapolis and Jack (Cathy) Mayfield of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gaylord Myers.Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., Vincennes. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
