Ellen Ruppel

Ellen Louise Ruppel, 75, of 4527 S. School House Rd., Vincennes, passed away at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the New Willow Manor. She was born November 2, 1935, in Vincennes, the daughter of Lawrence L. and Ruth E. (McCormick) Doll. She married Paul C. Ruppel on February 20, 1957 and he survives.Ellen was a graduate of St. Rose Academy and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and she and her husband taught First Communion class for many years. She retired from Grundman Shoes after twenty-two years.. She enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include her husband, Paul, of Vincennes; children, Deborah (Bob) Hall, Michael (Paula) Ruppel and Joseph L. (Janet) Ruppel all of Vincennes; brothers, Tom (Ginger) Doll of Alabama, Ike (Linda) Doll of Fort Wayne, IN and Ed (Betty) Doll of Monroe City, IN; two cousins, whom she considered sisters, Mary Lou Collins of Princeton and Janice Clark of Vincennes; grandchildren, Laura Hall, Katie (Tim) Jochim, Matthew Ruppel, Chris Hall and Eric Ruppel and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hall and Zachary Hall.Preceding Ellen in death were her parents and two brothers, Glenn Lewis Doll and Hugh Doll.A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. John Schipp and Deacon Earl Ruppel as celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
