Emmett Deem

Emmett L. Deem, Sr. passed away peacefully on May 21st, 2021 at 6:30 am at his home with his wife at his side. He was born on April 5th, 1927. He was the son of Matilda Vieke Deem Cardinal and L. Emmett Deem. Emmett was a lifelong member of the St. Vincent's Catholic Church and a lifelong melon farmer. For 12 years he drove a bus for the South Knox School Corporation. Emmett enjoyed coon hunting. He especially liked being around all the young people that worked for him over the years in the melon fields. As the years passed, he continued to stay in touch with many of them. Emmett is survived by his wife, Marion Deem, his children: Richard and his wife Peggy, Emmett L. Jr., James and his wife Debbie, Diana Roach, and Brent Stader and his wife Nancy. Emmett is also survived by his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding Emmett in death were his parents, two sisters, and a granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24th, 2021 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, 1837 Sth Hart St., Vincennes, In. 47591. Friends may visit with Emmett's family on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 from 2-6 p.m. at Goodwin - Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, In. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to assist Emmett's family with arrangements.
