Esther Wittman

Esther Wittman, 98, formerly of Vincennes, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 5:42 a.m. at Oakview Heights in Mt. Carmel.She was born January 11, 1916 in Evansville to Otto and Amelia (Brown) Holtman. Esther had worked as a secretary for St. John's United Church of Christ, Decker Fox Insurance, and Public Service Indiana. She was a lifetime member of St. John's United Church of Christ where she belonged to the Women's Guild and the Daughters of Ruth Sunday School class.Surviving are her children, Suellyn (David) Lehrschall of Evansville, Paul R. (Sandra) Wittman of Duneden, FL, and Linda (James) Whitten of Mt. Carmel; two grandchildren, Jennifer Haver and William Wood; two great grandchildren, Lennon Barrow and Tina Haver-Currin; her step grandchildren, Jimmie Lyn (Adam) Mitchell, and Meloni Whitten; and her step great grandchild, Aiken Mitchell, Austin and Draden HoffmanEsther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul W. Wittman; her sisters, Opal Holtman, and Ruth Bezy.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. EDT Wednesday October 1, 2014 at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Kate Lambertson officiating. Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
