Florence Gilmore

Florence D. Gilmore, 97, of Monroe City, IN, passed away June 5, 2021, at the BridgePointe Health Campus.Florence worked as a nurse's aide in Petersburg, IN. She obtained her nursing degree from Vincennes University in 1973. After working as a nurse at the Washington Nursing Home in Washington, IN, she was a hospice nurse in Ft. Myers, FL and Vincennes, IN. She retired from Willow Manor in Vincennes, IN.When she was first married, Florence was active in the Monroe City Presbyterian Church and its Women's Circle. Later she attended the Monroe City First Church of God, and was last a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.Florence enjoyed being a volunteer at the Blue Jean Center. She also volunteered at the voting precinct in Monroe City. Florence served on the Monroe City Town Board, and became President of the Town Board.Surviving are her children, Bryan Gilmore and his wife, Jolynn, of Cordova, TN, Norman Gilmore of North Ft. Myers, FL, Clayton Gilmore and his wife, Cindi, of Monroe City, IN, Sharon Seneff and her husband, Daniel, of Mansfield, TX, Belinda Trani of Ocean Pines, MD, Marlena Mason and her husband, Bennie, and Rose Ewing and her husband, Scott, of Akron, IN; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.Born August 23, 1923, in Iowa City, IA, she was the daughter of Edgar C. and Cleota F. (Miller) Springer. Her parents; her husband, Richard A. Gilmore whom she married April 6, 1943, and who passed away December 7, 2015; her sister, Phyllis Ramer; her grandson, Nathan Fairhurst; and her son-in-law, Frank Trani, preceded her.Friends may visit with Florence's family from 10:00 - 12:00 on Thursday, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN. The funeral will begin at 12:00 on Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Monroe City, IN.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blue Jean Center or Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice.Tribute Video Service Video
