Fred Dike

February 25, 1942 — April 7, 2024

Fredrick Warren Dike, 82, better known as Fred, passed away at 2:26 pm on April 7, 2024 at Deconess Hospital Midtown in Evansville, IN. Fred was born on February 25, 1942 in Owensville, IN the son of Edgar and Hazel (Anderson) Dike. He married Ruth McCallister on July 29, 1961 and they have been married for over sixty-two years.


Fred is a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Owensville, IN. Throughout his life, Fred found joy in his work at Duke Energy and as a self-employed farmer. His passion for camping, fishing, and collecting case knives brought him great happiness, as did his hobby of rebuilding tractors. Most importantly Fred loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


He had a deep love for his wife, Ruth Dike of Owensville and cherished moments spent with his children, daughter Lisa Julian and her husband Dave of Owensville, and his son Tim Dike and his wife Tonya of Owensville. His grandchildren were very important to him as well, Amber Carver and her husband Chris, Kendra Wilkinson and her husband Brandon, Adam Dike, Tori Dike as well as his great grand-children, Liam Carver, Hadley Carver, Nox Carver, Leighton Jones and River Wilkinson. Also surviving are his beloved dog Lexi, sister, Brenda G. Dike of Ft. Branch, brother-in-law, Gene McCallister and his wife Barbara of Spencer, IN, his adopted brothers, Mark and Denny Dike; sister-in-laws, Millie, Brenda Sue and Nancy Dike, as well as several nieces and nephews. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Hazel Dike, his siblings, Bob, Paul, Dave and Norman Ray Dike, Betty Reed, Rita Wilkerson; granddaughter Andrea a grandson, Kyle and granddaughter Taylor Dike.


Friends may visit with Fred's family from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2023 at First Christian Church of Owensville, 4680 W SR 168, Owensville, IN 47665. Funeral services to honor Fred's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2024 at First Christian Church with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Fred's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
