Freda Wilkes

Freda M. Haywood Wilkes, 87, 150 Fox Ridge Drive, Vincennes, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at her residence. Born February 20, 1924, in Maries County, MO, she was the daughter of Anton and Elsie (Stokes) Pendleton.Freda was a 1942 graduate of Lincoln High School and had worked at Morton s Dress Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed playing cards with the girls.Survivors include her children, Linda Fox and her husband, Richard, of Vincennes, Vicki Phelan and her husband, John, of Indianapolis, Gina Petty and her husband, Richard, of Indianapolis and Rodney Haywood and his wife, Lyd, of New Albany; grandchildren, Rick Fox and his wife, Donita, Jennifer Kotter and her husband, Jeff, Laura Sorrels and Amber Andrews; great-grandchildren, Hannah Fox, Alexandra Kotter, Ava Kotter, Brookelynn Turk, Jacob Crocker and Justice Beswick; great-great-grandchildren, Jeramiah Wetzel and Maylee Wetzel; brothers, Lewis Pendleton of Washington and Ethmer Pendleton of Vincennes and sister, Jean Boyer of Linton.Preceding Freda in death were her parents; first husband, Victor F. Haywood, second husband, Dale Wilkes and sister, Faye Somers.Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. with Pastor Dan Clemens officiating.
