Fred J. Craney, age, 70, of Washington, Indiana, lost his battle with Alzheimer's surrounded by his wife, the love of his wife and family at 7:30 am Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Gentry Park ALF in Bloomington, Indiana. Fred was born February 12, 1951, the son of Thomas F. and Marjorie (Watson) Craney. He graduated from Barr Reeve High School in 1969. After completing studies at ITT Technical Institute, he immediately attained employment at Crane Naval Base where he worked for thirty- six years, all in the same department. Family was everything to Fred. He loved to laugh and have a good time. He loved cars (and keeping them shined) and he loved music and dancing. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Montgomery, IN and the Knights of Columbus. Fred is survived by his wife of forty- seven years, Janice; his son Kevin C. Craney and grandson Liam Marsillio Craney of Wildwood, MO. Survivors also include sisters Linda (Arnold) Sussman of St. Louis, MO; Mary Ann (Mark) Walton of Bloomington, IN, and Jan (Brad) Steimel of Lake mary, FL; and brother, Tim (Pam) Craney of Fishers, IN; and sister-in-law Beverly Mellars-Craney of Bonita Springs, FL, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents Thomas F. and Marjorie Craney, brother Jeff Craney and daughter-in-law Dr. Lauren Marsillio-Craney. Fred's road has been long and challenging and it is of great comfort to all who loved him knowing that he is once again at peace. A visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10: 00 am on Saturday, November 13, 2021 St. Peter Catholic Church, 305 N. 2nd Montgomery, IN with interment to follow in St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association to advance Alzheimer's research. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Fred.
