Freida I. Malone, 90, of Washington, IN went to be with the Lord January 19, 2024. She was born November 7, 1933, in Columbus, IN and was raised by her adoptive mother Maude Ballard, whom she loved dearly. She married the love of her life Jewell Malone on September 29, 1951. Freida graduated with the 1951 class of Linton-Stockton High School and successfully completed numerous classes in federal and state tax preparation. Freida prepared individual, business and farm income tax returns in Daviess County and the surrounding areas for 30 years. She was an active member of the Veale Creek Baptist Church and made a career of volunteerism. She served as a volunteer for Senior and Family Services in Washington for 15 years, RSVP eye screening for young school children, a volunteer tax preparer and as a CASA with Daviess County CASA. In 2009, she was awarded the honor of Daviess County Volunteer of the Year.
In her free time, Freida enjoyed camping with Jewell, reading, playing euchre, baking, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, tending to her flowers, singing, watching IU Basketball, and travelling the world. Freida was a loving wife, mother of three children, grandmother of seven grandchildren and great-grandmother of twelve and will be deeply missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her mother Maude Ballard; husband Jewell Malone; infant twin sons; daughter Debora Crow.
Freida is survived by her sons Gerald (Tina) Malone and Michael (Cindy) Malone; grandchildren Erin (Mike) Blankenberger, Patrick (Hannah) Malone, Paige (Matt) Searer, Pam Malone, Nick Malone, Krystal (Paul) Sipes, Kyle Malone.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Malone. Visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, at 2020 State St. Washington from 11 am to service time. Funeral service will begin at 1 pm with burial at New Veale Creek Cemetery following immediately.
