Gary G. Kendrick passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the age of 67 after a brief illness. Gary will be lovingly remembered by Diane, his wife of 40 years and his son Jordan [Emily]. Gary is survived by his sister Cheryl Jones [Don], his brothers Jim Kendrick and Ric Kendrick, his Aunt Janice Kendrick and other extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Virginia Kendrick.Born in Highland Indiana, Gary graduated Butler University in 1973 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta and met his wife Diane while attending school. He went on to receive his master's degree in health care administration at Trinity University in 1980. Throughout the years, he managed many hospitals including most recently Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital of Nacogdoches, Texas, Daviess Community Hospital of Washington, Indiana, and Lincoln Medical Center of Fayetteville, Tennessee. Gary touched many peoples' lives and received many awards throughout his long and prosperous career.Gary supported numerous organizations. He was an active member of the Rotary Club and sat on the board of several organizations including the Trinity University Healthcare Association, the Genesis Health Alliance and United Way, Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce, in the various cities he lived.Gary was an avid golfer who fulfilled his lifelong dream of attending the Masters Tournament this year with his son Jordan. He was also a sport enthusiast who stuck by his Bears, White Sox, and Fighting Irish.He took the time to remember peoples' names because they were important to him. Gary was known for his outgoing personality and his sense of humor but most importantly his compassion.A viewing will be held on Friday, November 30th, from 3:00 until 8:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street in Washington, Indiana.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Gary on Saturday, December 1st at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd in Washington, Indiana, with Rev. Paul Ferguson presiding. A burial ceremony will immediately follow in Newburgh, Indiana at Rose Hill Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to assist the Kendrick family with arrangements.
