Garry E. Roberts, 78, of Owensville, IN went home to the Lord April 21, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born September 4, 1940 to the late Zelman J. and Beatrice (Overton) Roberts. Garry attended Owensville High School and was in the graduating class of 1958. He married the love of his life, Mary E. Roberts March 11, 1961. Garry worked for Emge Packing Company for 32 years until they closed then retired from A & T Concrete with the Teamsters Union. He was a 70 year member of Maumee General Baptist Church, 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Indiana Freemason, Past Master at Owensville Masonic Lodge 364, current member Princeton Lodge 231, Evansville Scottish Rite Member, and Sword of Bunker Hill Member. Garry loved tending his garden and spending time with his K-9 companion, Zoey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Zelman and Beatrice Roberts; wife, Mary Roberts; brother, Jerry Roberts; and brother-in-law, Charles Campbell. Garry is survived by his children Kevin (Billie) Roberts and Kelly (J.) Pegram; grandchildren Whitney (Cheryl) Endres, Jerod Roberts, Kamden Roberts, Brandon (Heather) Pegram, Nicholas (Jalia) Pegram, Jaylyn Pegram, Austin Sawyer, and Alex Sawyer; great grandchildren Trevor, Trenton, Avery, Rhett, Ella, and Evie; siblings Imogene (John Earl) Roberts and Betty Campbell. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Roberts. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Holders Funeral Home from 4p-8p and Thursday 10a-11a at the church. Funeral will be 11am Thursday at Maumee General Baptist Church with Kevin Miley officiating. Interment will follow at Maumee Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Maumee General Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thank you to Kevin and Tamera Miley for always being there, Darcy RN with Kindred Hospice for her compassionate care, and Teresa H. with One Star rehabilitation for going out of her way to check in and care for Garry.
