George L. Tromley, 75, of Vincennes passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 8:03p.m. at home with his family at his side. He was born July 27, 1938 in Vincennes, IN. He was the son of Christopher and Anne Hunter Tromley. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He then served in the United States Air Force. George was employed at Shultheis and Mitchell Furniture Stores. He recently retired from Wabash Food Service. You could always find George playing golf. In his golf career, he made seven holes-in-one, including one on a par 4 at the former Vincennes Elks Club. When he wasn't playing golf, he was most likely playing music. He played with the Coachmen, The Good Ole Boys, and The Musical Mulligans. In 1983, George was quoted in a newspaper article as saying, "Around our house, there are only two requirements - are you happy and are you healthy." He lived by this philosophy every day of his life. He married Janice K. Baldridge on June 8, 1974. They would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this year. He is survived by his daughters Jeanette Tromley of Indianapolis, IN; Melissa Smith and her husband, D.J.; Tracey Nowaskie and her husband, Steve; and Amy Owens and her fianc, Bill Stone; all of Vincennes. Also surviving are his grandchildren Zachary Tromley of Bloomington, IN; Collin Smith of Vincennes; Bryce and Brandt Nowaskie of Vincennes; Jeremy Eisenhut of Evansville; and Brooke Owens of Charleston, IL. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Christopher Tromley and his wife, Linda of Champaign, IL; Ray Tromley and his wife, Anita Kay; James Tromley; Joe Tromley; Norma Hunckler and her husband, Joe; Helen Thomas and her husband, Morris; all of Vincennes and Carolyn Schultz and her husband Dave of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tromley of Vincennes. His parents, two brothers, John Tromley and Paul Tromley, and a sister, Margaret Klueh preceded him in death. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of George's Life at 6:00 p.m.
