Georgia I. Sloo, 95, formerly of Vincennes, IN, passed away March 21, 2021, at Majestic Care of Avon, in Avon, IN. Georgia was a floral designer. She had worked in area greenhouses, and retired after many years at Organ's Florist and Greenhouse. A graduate of Lincoln High School, and an avid Lincoln sports fan, she was a basketball and football season ticket holder for many years. She enjoyed following several Indiana teams, including the Pacers, Colts, and Indiana University. Her husband, James, was a stock car mechanic, and dragster driver, and she enjoyed going to the races with him. Georgia also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Surviving is her daughter, Sue Turner, of Rockvale, TN; her son, Robert Sloo and his wife, Linda, of Brownsburg, IN; her sister, Nancy Gray and her husband, Carmen, of Avon, IN; her brothers, Harold "Red" Edwards and Richard Edwards, both of Vincennes, IN; her grandchildren, Robert Sloo, Jr., Natalie Turpin, Bradford Turner and his wife, Shannon, Vicki Danis, and Katie Malson and her husband, Nathan; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler Turpin, Allison Turpin, Jared Turner, Sammy Turner, Corbin Iliff, Lilly Iliff, Annabelle Danis, and Molly Danis. Born December 6, 1925, in Washington, IN, she was the daughter of Albert and Beatrice ( Herman) Edwards. Her parents, and a brother, Albert "Abe" Edwards, Jr. preceded her. On May 27, 1944, Georgia married James A. Sloo. She and a friend rode their bicylces from Vincennes to Decker, IN, where she had met Jim. They were married May 27, 1944, just prior to his reporting for service in the Army Air Corps. He passed away January 11, 1989. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, at Memorial Park Cemetery, at 11:30. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
