Guy E. Avra

Guy Edward Avra, 66, Lawrenceville IL, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN on August 23, 2018 after a valiant one year battle with pancreatic cancer.Guy was born on September 27, 1951 in Xenia, OH. He was the son of Dr. Harold and Norma (Steele) Avra. Guy was raised in the Vincennes area and graduated from South Knox High School in 1969 and Vincennes University in 1972. He also attended Indiana State University. Guy began his life long career in retail management in 1974 working primarily for JC Penney Corp with stints in Terre Haute, IN, Corydon, IN, Milwaukee WI and Muncie, IN. Guy relocated to Vincennes, IN in 2012 and met and subsequently married Sarah Smith on November 13, 2014. They then resided in Lawrenceville, IL. He was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco Giants. Guy was an animal lover and enjoyed traveling.He is preceded in death by his parents; Dr. Harold Avra and Norma (Steele) Avra.He is survived by wife Sarah Avra, Lawrenceville IL, daughter Robin Ray, Madison IN, grandchildren; Ashleigh, Kayden, Jaxon all of Madison, IN. Also surviving are brothers Mark Avra (Terri), Vincennes, IN, Dr. Bret Avra (Maria) Paducah, KY, nieces Amy Avra Sills (Dustin), Mischell Adams and Jennifer Kennedy, and step-children Diana Barnes, Debbie Barnes Limbach and Tommy Barnes as well as his faithful furry companions Little Bit, Peanut and Missy. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, August 27, 2018 at Memorial Park CemeteryIn lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Vincennes Animal Shelter.
