Gwendolyn Walters

Gwendolyn "Gwen" A. Walters, 93, formerly of Monroe City, IN, passed away Dec. 19, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was retired from Packaging Corp. Gwen enjoyed quilting, and also liked being outside. For many years she put out a garden, and enjoyed mowing her yard. She was a member of the Monroe City Church of Christ. Born April 20, 1919 in Knox County, Gwen was the daughter of Charles and Dovey (Justice) Harper. Her parents preceded her, as well as her husband, Dale Walters, whom she married Dec. 6, 1941; brothers, Amel, Merle, Walter, and Nofel Harper; and her sisters, Pearl Harper and Mary Jo Morris. Surviving is her daughter, Judith Woolard of Wheatland, IN; her grandsons, Steve (Jennifer) Woolard of Monroe City, IN, and Michael Woolard of Chattanooga, TN; and her great-grandsons, Andrew, Colton, and Zachary. A funeral service will be held on Monday, at 2:00, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 on Monday. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
