Harold Allison

Harold Allison born October 27, 1936, went to be with the Lord January 28, 2024.


Harold Allison was a champion of the environment. He helped preserve over 50,000 acres of Indiana's most sensitive ecological areas.


He holds the title of longest running syndicated columnist in Indiana History.


He was an author, naturalist, historian, and geologist. He graduated from Washington High School. He retired from the US Postal Service. His surviving family are daughter Jackie Wiscaver (husband Mike), grandson AJ, son Terry Allison (wife Andi), granddaughters Sadie and Sydney. He is preceded in death by his wife Anne Allison, father Martin Luther Allison, mother, Sadie Elsie Allison, brother Adrian Allison, sister-in-saw Lillian Allison, and nephew Mark Allison.


Harold enjoyed spending time with his family and loved God's precious gift of nature. He was a lifetime member of the Nature Conservancy and closely worked for years with the Division of Nature Preserves and the Department of Natural Resources. He attended Veale Creek Baptist Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.


He will be greatly missed.


Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Allison. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 2020 State St. Washington, IN from 11 am to service time. The funeral service will begin promptly at 1 pm with a burial immediately following.
