Harry Spires

Harry Spires Jr., 81, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Junior was born on March 1, 1942, and was the son of Harry and Marcella (Vanoven) Spires. He was married to the love of his life for 58 years, Virginia (Anderson) Spires. Junior was a civil engineer and had worked for many years at the USDA. He was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam war. He was an avid fisherman and expert hunter. He took his grandchildren with him on his fishing and hunting adventures and as a result they, too, are excellent in these trades because of the wonderful teacher he was. He will truly be missed. Junior is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Harry A. Spires III (Trae) and his wife Lori, Jennifer Spires-Parish and her husband David; brother, Earl Spires and wife Ellen; grandchildren, Ruger Spires and his wife Amanda, Brett Parish and his wife Hope, Audrey Parish, Annie Parish, and Samuel Parish; great grandchild, Ashlynn Parish,and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marcella Spires; sister, Wanda Miller; and granddaughter, Dakota Spires. Visitation for Junior will be on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 11:00am- 1:00pm at Upper Indiana Presbyterian Church with a Celebration of Life at 1:00pm with Pastor Pete White officiating. Per Junior's wishes, there will be a private burial at a later date. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Junior.
