It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harry Starrett, who left us on August 25, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on November 11, 1937, in Bruceville, IN, the son of John and Gladys (Powers) Starrett. He married Charlotte Williams, and she preceded Harry in death. Harry was known for his hard work as a mechanic at Boyers Service station and later as a laborer at Charlies Canvas.


Harry found joy in the simple things in life, spending his free time playing pool, hitting the golf course, and trying his luck at the casino in Evansville. He was an active member of both the American Legion and the Moose Lodge, where he forged lasting friendships and shared many laughs.


Survivors include his daughters, Angie Wampler and her husband Jeff of Vincennes, Julie Belcher and her husband DeVon of Vincennes; grandchildren, Jeff Wampler, Jr., Jermey Wampler, Charlotte Belcher, Chelsey Belcher; eight great grandchildren and his sisters, Carolyn Case of Jasper, IN, Joan Archer of Arizona, and Jean O'Dell of Missouri. Harry is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Starrett, his wife Charlotte Starrett and three sisters, Betty Snyder, Ethel Jones and Phyllis Todd.


In honor of Harry's life, a graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 919 Willow St., Vincennes, IN. Friends may visit with Harry's family from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN prior to the graveside service. Harry will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness and jovial nature. May he rest in peace.
