Hazel Lancaster

Hazel M. Lancaster, 94, of Vincennes, passed away at 8:30 pm Monday May 20, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital with her family at her side.She was born May 23, 1924 in Francisco, Indiana to Jake and Bertha (Parish) Phillips.Hazel loved to cook and especially loved the big family gatherings at the holidays where she would prepare a big feast. She worked as a cook at the Kum Back Inn when it was the go-to place to eat in the 1960's and then worked as the head cook at the Alicetown Restaurant. She also had worked at the Executive Inn also at the Elks Country Club for many years. She then took care of her sister-in-law during her physical disability. Hazel was a hard worker and had a green thumb as she could grow anything. She was devoted to the family she loved.Surviving are her daughter Judith Ann Richardville of Vincennes; a granddaughter, Melissa McCarter; four great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; daughter in law, Starlet Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son A.E.Gene Lancaster; and her brothers and sisters, William "Wig"Phillips, Ezra Phillips, Mary Jane Tolliver and Virginia Hobson.Private family services were held.
