Helen Dashnaw

In loving memory of Helen (Cave) Dashnaw, 84, born January 8, 1936, and passed away peacefully March 3, 2020 at the home in Washington, Indiana with her family surrounding her in love.Helen was sister to Jack Cave (Alice), Anita Nagel, Marion Burczynski (Raymond), Virginia Shraven (Jack). She was daughter to Mason Cave and Blanche (Baker) Cave. She was mother to Kathleen Herbach (Alan) of Wheaton, IL, Carol Pelz (Michael) of Ionia, MI, Wendy Rogers (Carl) of Grand Rapids, MI, Michael Dashnaw (Eleanor) of Indianapolis, IN, Timothy Dashnaw of Chicago, IL, and Molly Lazaric of Maui, HI. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Other family members include Tatsuya, Hiroko, Mariya, Erika, and Arisa Ozaki.Helen grew up in Buffalo, NY, attended Buffalo General Nursing School (1956), married her sweetheart Michael L. Dashnaw (1956), and raised a family of 6 kids. Helen was treasured wherever she went. She made wonderful friends in Buffalo, NY, Minneapolis, MN, Waycross, GA, Marion, IN, Grand Rapids, MI, and Washington, IN. She was passionate about her family, service to her community, quilting, tennis, bridge, Arts and Flowers Gardening Club, Tri-Kappa, sewing, Monday Afternoon Club, St. Vincent De Paul, member of Our Lady of Hope, Walk to Emmaus, and Habitat for Humanity.Visitation will be Friday, March 6th from 4-8 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN. A service of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church on Saturday, March 7th at 10:00 am with Rev. Paul Ferguson and Yvonne Evans celebrating. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. John Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, 815 E. Main St., Washington, IN 47501.
