Helen Mize

Helen I. Mize, 83, formerly of Monroe City, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Gentle Care Nursing Home.She was born March 19, 1929 in Knox County to Earl and Ruby (Devine) Wilson. Helen was a member of the Monroe City First Church of God and had worked at Walmart.Surviving are her children, Lynn (Rick) Leech of Monroe City, Denise (Gabe)Armstrong of Mt. Carmel, Lori (Tom) Williams of Wheatland, and Rick (Tammy) Mize of Monroe City; a sister, Thelma Kenneth of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren, Mike Leech, Krista Roos, Gerritt Armstrong, Marci Armstrong, Jacob Armstrong, Shaun Bruner, Myra Helt, Cindy Weddle, Erin Carter, Holly Scott, Megan Halterman, Marci Mize, Dalton Mize; 13great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.Preceding Helen in death were her parents, her husband, Harold Mize whom she married June 5, 1947 and passed away on August 29, 1981, a sister, Mary Wilson, and a brother, Tom Wilson.The family would like to give a special thank you to Gentle Care Nursing Home for their outstanding care for Helen.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Nielson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the service Wednesday.
