Helen Parker

Helen B Parker passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2013, at the age of 103. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved taking care of her home and her flowers. She loved the holidays and enjoyed hosting an annual Christmas party for her grandchildren, continuing to do so through age 99. She taught Sunday School for many years at Decker Chapel United Methodist Church. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Pearl Young, her husband, Charles E. Parker, her son, Herman R. Parker, grandson, Steven L. Donovan, great-grandson, Eric R. Catt, her brothers - Veral Young, Walter Young, and Marion (Erk) Young, sisters - Goldie McCrary, Ruth Seals, Noreen Cline, Hester Lane and Martha Travis. Helen is survived by her daughter, Lorna M. Donovan of Vincennes, six granddaughters, twenty-one great-grandchildren and twenty great-great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 7:00 on Friday, at the Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home. On Saturday, from 10:00 - 10:45, people are welcome to come to the funeral to view and sign the register. At 11:00 Saturday, a graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
