Henry Abel

Henry H. Abel, 76, passed away at 6:40 a.m. on April 26, 2012 at his residence. Henry was born on January 28, 1936 in Vincennes the son of Willard Edward Abel and Martha Gardner. Henry married Jaynette Crouse on June 29, 1989 and she survives. Henry worked in shipping and receiving at Essex Wire and was well known for his lawn mower repair service. Henry served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1959. Survivors include his wife Jaynette Abel of Vincennes; son, Tony Abel and his wife, Lori of Keensburg, IL step children, Leonard Simmons and his wife Darla of Odon; William Simmons, Jr. and his wife Marge of Washington, IN; Douglas Simmons and his wife Jenny of Tampa, FL; Raymond Simmons and his wife Mary Beth of Loogootee, IN; Ginger Slayton of Vincennes; Brian Slayton of Vincennes; brother, James Abel and his wife Barbara of Vincennes; sister, Margaret Brown and her companion Richard Holscher of Vincennes; grandchildren, Emily Abel, Logan Abel, and Joey Slayton. Also surviving are several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway.
