Henry Watjen

On Thursday, April 20th, Henry passed away at the age of 71. On October 19, 1951, he was born the fourth of six children to John Herman and Nora (Roe) Watjen. Shortly after high school he served in the Air National Guard. That being said, from the time he could walk until he couldn't anymore, he was a farmer. It started with his family farm and those of friends his dad helped, and later over 40 years at Ice Farms, Inc. In the spring of 1971 he married Sue, and they went on to raise three children. When he wasn't farming or busy fixing or building anything he could think of, weather permitting, he was on his motorcycle. Over the years he was able to put miles on his bike in several states. Along with friends he visited Mount Rushmore, the Dakotas, Devil's Tower, Crazy Horse, Florida, and the Tail of the Dragon. He and Sue traveled together as well while leaving the motorcycle at home, including Biltmore Estate, Lake Tahoe, Niagara Falls, and their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Sue (Myers) Watjen, children Lynn Watjen of Indianapolis, Jess (wife Erin) Watjen of Wheatland and Susan (Watjen) (husband Andy) Vieke of Vincennes, and four grandchildren (Porter and Elaina Watjen and Maggie and Will Vieke). He was preceeded in death by his parents, brother John Andrew Watjen, sister Mary (Watjen) Wallace and nephew Danny Wallace. Visitation will be held at Community Church of Vincennes, 1548 S. Hart Street Rd, Vincennes, IN 47591 on Tuesday, April 25, from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm with Masonic and Shrine services at 5:00 pm. Additional Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 26, from 10:00 am -11:00 am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Royal Oak Church Cemetery.
