Herald "Dean" Baker went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 6, at the age of 86 in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on Sunday, September 22, 1935 in Wheatland, Indiana. Those left to cherish his memories include the love of his life and best friend Deanna Rigot Baker, daughter Lynn Ann Roberson husband Roger, daughter Kim Beaman husband Jim, son Terry Baker wife Marty, two brothers Leon Baker, Sam Baker wife Sandra. Ten grandchildren, Jacob(Misty), Kristy(Jeffrey), Marci(Marzell), Jessica (Mitch), Joe(Jenny), Caleb (Emily), Sarah (Curtis), Riley(Brooklyn), Trey & Ely. Nine great grandchildren, Kadee, Lily, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Kaseton, Brynlee, Jameson, Maggie, Connor, sister in law Linda Myers and husband David, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter Tammie Baker, father Herald Baker, mother, Emma Smith Baker, brother Jerry Baker, and brother- in- law Don Rigot. Dean Baker graduated from Wheatland High school in 1953 and went on to serve 4 years in the United States Airforce, two of those years in Japan. He met the love of his life Deanna Rigot and married her on October 17, 1959 and started his life with her. They were married for 62 years and created a life in Wheatland, Indiana. He was a life-long member of the Wheatland Christian Church, he attended Bethany Christian Church in Vincennes, former member of Lions Club of Wheatland, member of the Masonic Lodge in Monroe City, a 60 year member of Wheatland Steen Twp. Fire Department. Chaplin was his current position. He worked for Hoosier Energy for 27 years and retired in 1997 from there. He loved his church and serving the Lord was the most important thing to him. He loved his family dear. He believed in spending time with them and loving them. He cherished every moment that he could with his wife and children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved to sit outside and wave at everyone that would drive or walk down Main Street in Wheatland. He loved to coach the girl's, softball team in Wheatland. He was a lifelong fan of the St Louis Cardinals but loved watching all sports, especially when his grandchildren played. Going to Florida in the winter was one of his favorite trips to take to get away from the winter months in Indiana. He loved to go see many caves and waterfalls on most of their vacation trips as a family. He would help at all the public occasions that would take place in Wheatland making his famous homemade ice cream. He will be deeply missed my all, especially by his Fuzzy Girl the cat!
