Howard Downey

Howard Thomas Downey, 81, passed away at 2:03 am on June 3, 2019 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. Howard was born on May 17, 1938 in Bruceville, the son of Brooks and Martha (Johnson). He married Nina Decker on September 1, 1962 and she survives.Howard was a 1956 graduate of Bruceville High School and a member of Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville, IL. He worked for UPS as a route driver for twenty-eight years. Howard enjoyed working in the yard, working on cars and mechanic work in his spare time.Survivors include his wife, Nina Downey of Vincennes, daughters, Theresa Morse of Vincennes, Michelle Catt and her husband Randy of Vincennes; son, Michael Downey and his wife Shannon of Vincennes; sister, Beverly Schultz and her husband Keith of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Joshua Downey, Michael Downey II, Alicia Hettich, Matthew Tennis, Gracie Downey; great grandchildren, Brady, Johnny, Jackson, Layla and Brianna. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; granddaughter, Jessica Downey and son-in-law, Terry Morse.Friends may visit with Howards family from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. Howard's funeral service will be conducted at the conclusion of visitation starting at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Donaldson officiating.
