Ila Pemberton

Ila Dean (Peggy) Pemberton, age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 12, 2015 at her residence in Bicknell, IN. She will be greatly missed by her children and family.Peggy was born in Vincennes, IN to Kenneth M. and Sada M. Pemberton, in 1925. She graduated from Lincoln High and worked locally till her marriage to Elmo A. Gaines, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her son, David A. Gaines of Vincennes. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Sams (Norm) and son, Ronald Gaines, both of Michigan. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Cynthia Redd (Rex), Christie Murphy, Steve Sams and R.J. Gaines, along with four great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and four cousins who she enjoyed staying in touch with throughout the years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing the organ, reading and in her later years, emailing all her friends and relatives daily.Family, Strength of Character and Perseverance sums up her journey through life.A private burial was held at Memorial Park Cemetery We would like to thank Guardian Angel for all the help they gave her for the past several years which allowed her to stay in her home.
