Imogene L. Wyant, 94, formerly of Monroe City, IN, went peacefully in her sleep, on May 27, 2013, at the New Willow Manor. Imogene was retired from Uniroyal in Washington, IN. During WWII, she had worked as a welder in the shipyard at Evansville, working on LST's. She loved to cook and garden. During her life, she quilted hundreds of quilts. Imogene was a member of the Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church. Born June 30, 1918, in the rural Monroe City area, she was the daughter of Columbus and Josephine (Reitman) Myers. Preceding her were her parents; her husband of 47 years Melvin Wyant, whom she wed Aug. 16, 1934, and who passed away on Oct. 22, 1981; a daughter, Mary Jo Wyant; a son, Melvin Ray Wyant; several brothers and sisters; and a great-granddaughter, Jamie Dobson. Survivors include her daughter, Bettie Wyant of Monroe City, IN; granddaughters, Vickie (Ron) Neveu of Gilman, IL, Judy (Terry) McCoy of Monroe City, IN, and Angie (Martin) Dreiman of Vincennes; nine great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 to 3:00 on Friday, at Goodwin Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00, with Rev. Brenda Wick officiating. Afterwards, a committal service will be held at Hamline Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church.
