Irvan Sievers

Irvan Sievers, 91, passed away at his residence on February 9, 2022. Irvan was born on May 16, 1930, in Vincennes and he was the son of Lester and Mary (Hess) Sievers. Irvan married Joy Ann Bateman and she preceded him in death and then he married Mary Louise Williams and she preceded him in death. Irvan was a telephone repair technician for Indiana Bell, AT & T and he retired from Lucent Technologies. He served his country in the US Army and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Irvan was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 73 where he had been past commander, and a lifetime member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge, Vincennes Eagles # 384 and the Knights of Columbus. In Irvan's spare time he enjoyed gardening, puzzles, and playing games on his tablet. He was also a huge IU, Colts and Cardinal fan. Survivors include his sons, Tim Sievers of Evansville, Dave Sievers of Bruceville; his step-son, Fred Steele and his wife Carol of Vincennes; his siblings, Joe Sievers of Newton, IL, Larry Sievers of Minneapolis, MN, Steve Sievers of Birmingham, AL, Mary Jane Sievers of Martinsville, IN, Hilda Woodfork of Bloomington, IN; thirteen grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. Irvan was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Joy Ann Sievers, his second wife, Mary Louise Sievers, his son, Scott Sievers, and his step-son, Steve Steele. Friends may visit with Irvan's family from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at St. John Catholic Church, 803 Main St., Vincennes, IN 47591. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Tony Ernst officiating. Irvan will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
