Jack E. Lucas, 74, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on October 29, 2019. Jack was born January 24, 1945 in Decker, Indiana to Elmer and Vester (Pierce) Lucas.He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963. Early in his career, Jack worked at Hamilton Glass. As a businessman, Jack owned and operated several businesses including Tasty Flake Bakery, Taco Rail, and Norge Laundromat. He also managed Fortner Pest Control for 32 years and owned the business in the last 12 years of his career. A strong supporter of education, Jack was a founding member of the Vincennes Education Foundation and the Lincoln High School Academic Society. He enjoyed spending time with family, telling jokes, and attending his grandkids' activities.Jack is survived by his wife Carolyn (Berry) Lucas, whom he married on December 4, 1965, three daughters; Angela Lucas of Denver, CO, Amber Soderling (Scott) of Vincennes, Andrea Hostetler (Chris) of Vincennes, six grandchildren; Jacquelyn Duncan (Andrew) of Louisville, Kentucky, Joshua Nelson of Evansville, Indiana, Jordan Soderling, Jonathan Soderling, Jillian Hostetler, and Joseph Hostetler all of Vincennes, 3 sisters; Mavis Jones (Vincennes), Vickie Newkirk (Vincennes), and Cheryl Cardinal (Bloomington). Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers, and 3 sisters.Friends may visit with Jack's family on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 2:00 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Scott Soderling officiating. Jack will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln High School Academic Society, the Vincennes Education Foundation, the Christian Educational Foundation, or GSH Hospice.
