Jack Williams

Jack N. Williams 75, died on February, 26, 2013 at 9:22 am in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 4, 1938 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Norman and Dorothy (Maybe) Williams. The family lived in the Indianapolis area for many years before moving to Vincennes in 1952. He attended Vincennes Lincoln High School where he played football. He was an avid Colts fan and enjoyed watching IU Basketball. As a youngster he attended many 500 mile races at the Speedway. He also developed a love for NASCAR racing. He became a fan of midget, (nonwing) Sprint and Silver Crown races and went to various tracks throughout the Midwest. He especially liked the Terre Haute Action Track and had attended races there every year since they opened. Jack also loved and was a motorcycle enthusiast his whole life. He had worked at Dick Leonard Ford, Good Samaritan Hospital and retired from Vincennes University in 2000 after nineteen years. On July 6, 1957 he married Nancy L. Mikiska and she passed away on March 10, 2001. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Uncle Bill and Aunt Irene, nephew, Brian Parker, great nephew, Josh Parker, two brother-in-laws Marvin Parker and Con Cardinal.Surviving are his wife, Sherrill (Cederlund) who he married on October 3, 2003, children, Teresa (Charlie) Gentry of Clearwater, FL; Bret Williams, Vincennes; Jan (Brian) Severence, Arlington TX; Bradley (Becky) Williams of St. Francisville, IL; four step-children, Anita Hernandez of Wheatland; Bruce David Cederlund of Wheatland; Angel (Troy) Groteguth of Freelandville; Missy (Johnny) Winemiller of Oaktown; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren; one step great grandchild, sister, Nan (Parker) Cardinal, Vincennes; two nephews, Jeff (Lisa) Parker of Worthington,IN and Gary (Missy) Parker Ft. Meyers, FL. Funeral services for Jack will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, with Pastor Michael Taylor officiating. Friends may visit with Jack's family from 3-6 pm at the funeral home on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
