Jackie E. Sumner, formerly of Monroe City, IN, passed away Dec. 29, 2013, at the Lodge of the Wabash. Born Nov. 22, 1933, in Velpen, IN, he was the son of Harmon Franklin and Violet (Hall) Sumner. Preceding him were his parents; a son, Greggory Sumner; and a brother, Billie Jo Sumner. Surviving is his wife, Barbara (Tisdale) Sumner; his children, Kathy Jo (Terry) Tapley of Vincennes, Teresa (Jeff) McDonald of Jasonville, IN, Jacklyn (Roger) Randall of Bicknell, IN, Harry Lee (Mitzi) Sumner of Lubbock, TX, LeJeana (Harold) Jones of Wheatland, IN, and Shane Alan (Amanda) Sumner of Vincennes, IN; brothers, Jerry Lee Sumner of Griffith, IN, Ronald Gene Sumner of Vincennes; a sister, Margaret Ann Walls, of Sumner, IL; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack retired as the delivery man for Progress Laundry. He had also worked as a mechanic and a truck driver. During the Korean War, he served in the US Air Force. A public graveside service will be held on Tuesday, at 2:00, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
