James Boyer

September 19, 1929 — November 30, 2011

James "Jim" Boyer, of 911 Nicholas St. Vincennes, passed away on Nov. 30, 2011 at Gentlecare Nursing Home. Jim was the owner & operator of One Hour Cleaners, on the corner of 5th & Main, for 40 years. He was an Army veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion. A former member of the Vincennes Civitan Club, Jim was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where he met his wife, Jean. Survivors include his wife Jean (Engle) Boyer; two sons, Bruce & David Boyer, both of Vincennes; a sister, Margaret Munsen of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Holly Combs, Jason Taylor, and Miranda Racey; a great-grandson, Collin Combs; and several nieces & nephews. Born Sept. 19, 1929 in Stearns, KY, he was the son of Gilbert & Isabel Boyer. He was preceded by his parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, at 2:00 with Rev. Dan Clemens officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5:00 - 8:00.
