James O. Brenton, formerly of Comanche Drive, Vincennes, passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the VNA Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born September 23, 1924, in Pike County, IN to Byron and Lucille (Arnold) Brenton.James was a retired teacher at North Knox where he coached junior high track, football and basketball. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved sports and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed traveling, bus trips and cruises. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and Korea and was a boxing coach while in the military.Survivors include his life companion, Janet Weisenberger, and her two children, Andrea (Nate) Ablicki and Will Weisenberger; sons, James B. (Sharon) Brenton of Bruceville and Scott E. (Betty J.) Brenton of Bruceville; daughter, Rhonda (David) Miller of Newburgh; grandchildren, Nick (Jena) Brenton, Chantal (Doug) Kowalski, Jason (Janel) Phillips, Rhet Miller, Riley Miller, Lindsay Miller, Rachel Moore, Seth Brenton, Stacie Flickenger, Jason Earley and Nicole (Jon) Levanda and twelve great-grandchildren.Preceding Jim in death were his parents; brother, Byron Brenton and sister, Tina Seitsma.Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until the service time on Friday.
