James Hancock

James "Brock" Hancock, 51, of Wheatland, IN went to his heavenly home on July 3, 2023. He was born in Vincennes, IN on September 27, 1971, to the late James "Mick" and Linda C. (Ivers) Hancock. Brock graduated from South Knox High School in 1990. He married, the love of his life, Brenda Shaffner on October 11, 1997. Brock worked 10+ years as a laborer for the Hershey Chocolate Factory, but his real passion was his family farm. Brock became an advocate for organ donation after receiving a 5 organ transplant in 2009. He was incredibly passionate about educating others about the process of organ donation and encouraged others to consider donation. Brock was also a man of faith and through all his struggles his unwavering faith was never shaken. In his free time, Brock enjoyed lawn maintenance, riding dirt bikes, watching Nascar, flower gardening, going to concerts with his family, and listening to his favorite bands on his records. Brock was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, of 25 years, Brenda Hancock; daughter Syd (Bryce Mattox) Hancock; siblings Jennifer (Doug) Aschermann, Jerry (Becky) Jones, Johnna (Gene) Shepard; many nieces and nephews; and beloved dogs Henlee and Darby. Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Hancock. Visitation will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, at 524 Broadway St. from 4-8pm. A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 11am with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following. The family would like to request visitors and friends wear their favorite band t-shirts in Brock's honor. Memorial donations can be made to Donate Life.
