James "Jay" Edward Black, 70, of Vincennes, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 1:20pm.
He was born on June 17, 1954, to the late James & Hallie (Lay) Black, in Vincennes, Indiana.
Jay attended Vincennes Lincoln High School, and he was a member of the 1972 graduating class. He was a proud member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Vincennes, Indiana. Jay worked for over 45 years doing maintenance for the local Catholic Schools in Vincennes. He enjoyed spending time messing with cars, and especially loved the old ones. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Star Trek on t.v., and playing with his furry companion, "Gabby". He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors of Jay include his daughter, Paulina Shore and her husband Richie of Vincennes, IN; his sister, Melissa Keller and her husband Roger of Vincennes, IN; his grandchildren, Evan Shore, J.D. Stricklin, Hallie Green, and Brandon Green; his nephew, Blaine "AJ" Twitty; his great-niece, Ruby Twitty; his sister-in-law, Pam Black; and his furry companion, Gabby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hallie; and his brother, Anthony Lee Black.
Visitation for Jay will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 3:00 - 6:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, IN 47591. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers with Father Don Ackerman and Father Tony Ersnt as celebrants. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral service.
