James Melvin

James M. Melvin, 90, of Vincennes, passed away at his son's home on March 2, 2012. Born February 10, 1922 in Shoals, IN, he was the son of Levi and Minnie (McKnight) Melvin. His parents preceded him, along with his wife, Mae (Dukes) Melvin, whom he wed Dec. 24, 1943; sisters, Vee Daugherty and Billie Dustin; and his brothers Kenny, Joe, and Allen Melvin. Survivors include his children, David (Debbie) Melvin of Vincennes, Jerry (Patty) Melvin of Washington, IN, and Candy (Matt) Melvin of Bicknell, IN; a brother, Hank Melvin of Vincennes, grandchildren Tuesdee Quinton, Jerry Mack Melvin, Jr., Robin Ridgely, Travis Malone, Kelsey Malone; and his great-grandchildren, Luke Quinton, Blayne Ridgely, Hannah Wesley, Rhese Ridgely, and Jalie Melvin. Jim had worked at Hamilton Glass for 41 years, and was a member of the American Legion, 40 et 8, and the Eagles. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps.
