James Newcome

James Kent Newcome, 67, of Owensville, Indiana passed away June 29, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 19, 1951 in Princeton, Indiana to the late Joe and Marilyn (Vaught) Newcome. Kent graduated from Owensville High School in 1969 and attended college at what is now known as USI. Kent proudly joined the United States Marine Corp in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1973 as a Sergeant. He was employed at Emge Packing for 16 years and Gibson County Sheriff's Department as a corrections officer for 23 years. Kent was a member of the Old Union Christian Church. He was a life time member and past commander of VFW Post 2714. He Loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals, college basketball (especially IU Hoosiers), and Andy Griffith reruns daily. Kent will be greatly missed by family and friends. Kent was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Sharon Knowles. He survived by his wife Becky (Knowles), daughter Melissa (Toby Wolfe and daughter Haley) and brother Keith (Wilma) Newcome. Kent and Becky would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on July 1st Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Kent Newcome Visitation will be Monday, July 2, 2018 from 4p-8p at Holder's Funeral Home, 319 S. Main St. Owensville, IN. Military Honors Funeral will be held Tuesday July 3, 2018 at 11a with Ken Hubachek officiating. Interment will be at Owensville Cemetery.
