James (Jim) W. Wells, 94, of Evansville, IN passed away November 5, 2018. Jim was the eldest for four children. He was born in Action, IN February 6, 1924 to Alva and Edna Wells. He lived in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne before moving to Evansville in 1938. After graduating from Central High School, he attended Anderson Aircraft School in Nashville, TN. He then worked at Servel building, the first set of wings for the P47 Thunderbolt. He entered the army in January 1943, serving three years with two years in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He returned to Servel in 1946 spending most of his time as supervisor and engineer, building F84F wings for Republic Aviation. In January 1958 he left to join Twigg Aerospace in Brazil, IN and moved with the company to Martinsville, IN in 1960. He retired in 1987 as Material Manager and Vice President/Purchasing and then did consulting work for them for several years. In 1948 he married Janette Jones and spent over 64 happy years with her until she passed away in 2012. They had moved to Solarbron Pointe in Evansville in April 2005. James is survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, and Janette's cousins who accepted him into their families when he and Janette married. He is preceded in death by his parents Alva and Edna Wells; wife Mary Janette Wells; sisters Ruth Crews, Edna Lee Ogg, and Elizabeth Sanders. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Wells. Cremation was chosen by the family and performed by the staff of Holder Funeral Home in Owensville, IN. Graveside services will be held at Owensville Cemetery November 10, 2018 at 1pm with full military honors. Bob Douglas will be officiating.
