James Whittler

James Earl Whittler, 82, of Owensville, IN passed away peacefully at his home on March 21, 2020. He was born in Princeton, IN on September 15, 1937 to the late James and Alma Lee (Overton) Whittler. James married his best friend, Phyllis (Farrar) Whittler, October 26, 1960. He retired from Emge in 1991 after 24 years of service. James loved to go fishing; he would often win competitions for largest catch. He spent time with his Amish friends at Dinky's on a regular basis. James also had many big work horses over the years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Owensville and will be missed by so many. James was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Ray Whittler, Roger Whittler, Donald Whittler, Steven Whittler, Michael Whittler, Allen Whittler, and June Foribeter. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Whittler; children Marvin (Bonnie) Whittler and Shirley Walthers; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Holders Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Whittler. Graveside will be 1pm March 23, 2020 at Saulmon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
