Janet Earley, 86, a cherished mother, grandmother and dedicated educator, passed away on March 23, 2025, at Bridge Pointe Health Campus leaving behind a legacy of kindness and commitment to her community. Janet was born on March 16, 1939, the daughter of Charles Donald and Wilma (Dunn) Wittenmyer. She married Paul Earley on July 22, 1961, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2014.
Born and raised with a passion for learning, Janet earned her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and her master’s degree from Indiana State University. She dedicated her life to teaching, inspiring countless students during her long tenure as a teacher. Her love for education extended beyond the classroom, as she was an active member of the Garden Club, Harmony Society, Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and numerous other civic organizations, where she made lifelong friends and contributed to the betterment of her community.
Janet was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, where she found both spiritual nourishment and a sense of belonging. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support for her family and friends will be profoundly missed.
Survivors include her children, Jana Fields and her husband Joe of Lexington, KY, Grant Earley of Vincennes, her grandchildren, Ethan Fields, Kendall Fields, Maggie Earley, Mitchell Earley and Natalie Earley. Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Donald and Wilma Wittenmyer and her husband Paul Earley.
