Janet Hornaday

August 22, 1942 — August 25, 2020

Janet E. Hornaday, 78, of Montgomery, passed away at 10:59 pm on August 25, 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN. Janet was born on August 22, 1942 in Daviess County the daughter of Paul E. and Christena V. (Himsel) Jones. She married Clarence E. Hornaday on February 18, 1973 and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1989.Janet was a 1960 graduate of Washington High school and attended Evansville College. She then received her certification in RHIT from the AHIMA and then went on to serve in many capacities in the medical records department at Daviess Community Hospital for forty-seven years. Janet was a member of Hudsonville United Methodist Church but attended Antioch Christian Church. She was a member of Omega Alpha Chi Sorority, Daviess County Rural Youth, and enjoyed playing bingo and participating in many other activities at Oak Ridge. Most importantly though, Janet enjoyed family gatherings and watching her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Hornaday of Montgomery, IN; son, Darin Hornaday and his wife Heidi of Washington, IN; sister, Kay Michael and her husband Paul of Montgomery, IN; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Graber; seven nieces and nephews and fourteen great nieces and great nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband Clarence.Friends may visit with Janet's family on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 4-8 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, IN. Funeral services for Janet will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday with visitation from 10:00 am until service time at Antioch Christian Church, 307 E. US Highway 50, Washington, IN with Pastor Tony Ruble officiating. Janet will be laid to rest next to her husband Clarence in New Veale Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Antioch Christian Church. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to assist the Hornaday family with arrangements.Tribute Video
