Janie S. Norrod, 80, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Eastgate Manor in Washington, IN with her family by her side after fighting a terminal illness.
She was born January 5, 1945, and raised in Allons, TN. She is the daughter of both the late James "Andrew" Buck and Alva (Gore) Buck, both natives of Tennessee. Janie had two older sisters, both deceased, Jesse Nell (Buck) Maynard of Cookeville, TN, and Sarah Mae (Buck) Webb of Livingston, TN.
Janie married the late Thomas E. Norrod of Monroe, TN on December 2, 1961. They have two children, Thomas "Mark" Norrod and Melissa Jane (Norrod) Schnarr, both of Washington, IN.
Her great joys are her surviving grandchildren, Landon Wyatt Norrod, (son of Thomas "Mark" Norrod and Robin Baggett) and resides in Shelbyville, TN, Ashley Kate (Schnarr) Warfield of Bloomington, IN and Kylee Marie Schnarr (both daughters of Joseph "Scott" Schnarr and Melissa Jane (Norrod) Schnarr) of Washington, IN and a great granddaughter, little Elliana Jane Warfield, (daughter of Kawon Warfield and Ashley Kate (Schnarr) Warfield) of Bloomington, IN.
A full-time homemaker, she enjoyed periodic work outside the home as a hotel front desk clerk at the Overton Motel in Livingston, TN, Textile Factory sewing and a grocery cashier. She was a devout Christian and a long-standing member of Churches of Christ. She was an avid gardener and a floral green thumb, enjoyed being outside, cooking and spending as much time as possible with her grandkids and infant great granddaughter Elliana Jane the last six months. She was a loving mother who feared the Lord and raised her children in the teachings of Christ and walked in her faith throughout her life.
Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN along with Speck Funeral Home, 300 N. Church St., Livingston, TN 38570 are managing arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, March 28 from 4-8 pm at Speck Funeral Home in Livingston, TN. A viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 am until 11:30 am and the funeral will begin at 11:30 am at Speck Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grant Norrod Family Cemetery on Norrod Road in Monroe, TN.
